Make Room - Matthew 14:10–21
In Matthew 14:13–21, Jesus had every reason to want to be alone. He was grieving the death of John the Baptist and had withdrawn to a quiet place, but the crowds followed Him. Instead of seeing them as an interruption, Jesus saw people who needed Him, had compassion on them, and moved toward them.
In MAKE ROOM, students will discover that biblical compassion is more than feeling sorry for someone. It means actually seeing the people around us, moving toward them with the love of Christ, and looking for opportunities to point them to Jesus. Most importantly, we’ll see that the gospel is the greatest picture of compassion: Jesus saw us in our sin, moved toward us, and gave His life on the cross to bring us back to God.
Big Idea
Jesus made room for you. Make room for others.
Three Things to Remember
SEE THEM. → MOVE TOWARD THEM. → POINT THEM TO JESUS.
Students will leave challenged to identify one person in their everyday life who may be overlooked, hurting, lonely, or far from Jesus and intentionally make room for them this week.
